Tour: Excursion to Pisac archaeological park, market, and Ollantaytambo

Your tour begins with a pick-up from your hotel at approximately 08h00 in Cusco or 09h00 in the Sacred Valley. You will first head to Pisac, stopping en route at Awanacancha. This is followed by a visit to the Pisac archaeological complex, built between the 10th and 11th centuries AD. The remarkable Inca architecture of this site showcases enormous walls, palaces, and turrets constructed using stone blocks assembled without cement or glue. Pisac is also known as an astronomical observatory and remains one of the important Inca masterpieces attributed to the Inca Pachacutec. Next, you will visit the Pisac Andean market, where you can explore a variety of agricultural products and handicrafts. This vibrant market offers an insightful cultural experience and an opportunity to shop for unique souvenirs. After a lunch break (approximately one hour), the tour continues to the Ollantaytambo Archaeological Park . This fortified city, built by the Inca Pachacutec, served as a stronghold for Manco Inca Yupanqui during the Spanish conquest. Ollantaytambo was a military, religious, administrative, and agricultural complex strategically located on two mountains overlooking the Sacred Valley. The tour concludes with a visit to Chinchero, a village renowned for its textile artistry and rich Inca history. In Chinchero’s main plaza, you will find a colonial church built in the 17th century. After this final stop, you will be transferred back to your hotel.

Tour: Cuzco City

Time to explore the magical Cusco! This captivating city boasts a rich history from both the Inca and colonial eras. Begin this half-day tour at Cusco’s main square, formerly known as Huacaypata (Warriors' Square) by the Incas. While your guide shares the history of this remarkable location, you’ll admire the city’s Cathedral, built between 1560 and 1664 using red granite stones taken from the Inca Fortress of Sacsayhuaman. The cathedral is one of Cusco’s most impressive structures, both inside and out, and houses one of the most important collections of gold and silver artifacts from the colonial period. Next, you’ll visit Koricancha and the Convent of Santo Domingo. This convent was constructed atop the most important Inca temple dedicated to sun worship, whose walls were once covered in gold leaf. Walking through the streets of the former capital of the Inca Empire, feels like stepping back in time. After exploring Cusco, the tour continues to nearby archaeological sites, such as the Sacsayhuaman Fortress, whose name means "satiated hawk" or "mottled head." This site features zigzagging megalithic walls, tower foundations, aqueducts, tunnels (chincana), stone slides (suchuna), and the plain where the Inti Raymi (Festival of the Sun) is celebrated. Then, visit the Qenko Amphitheater, a stone construction decorated with carvings of felines, birds, and snakes. This ceremonial site honored the sun, moon, and stars, and its semicircular cavern hosted agrarian rituals. Next, explore the red fort of Puca Pucara, whose paths, plazas, aqueducts, watchtowers, and sleeping quarters formed a fortress and resting place (tambo) for the Inca and his entourage during visits to Tambomachay. Finally, explore Tambomachay, a limestone religious center where rituals were conducted to invoke rain and soil regeneration.
