Ship Reviews

We decided to take the Aria Amazon after doing the Aqua Mekong cruise on the a Mekong River in Asia. It was an excellent choice and did not disappoint! Aqua Expeditions is consistently nothing short of superb. The service is absolutely top notch — from ensuring that all pax’s personal preferences are met (whether food or other), modern design, attention to detail in providing as many comforts as possible to weather the heat and at times the mosquitoes, and other. The nature guides (Juan, Billy and Alex) were so knowledgeable and truly experts in their field and animal spotting, the kitchen staff did a great job on showcasing local foods, the cruise director, Jhuliana, was a familiar face (whe was on the Mekong cruise we did (well done, Aqua Expedition, in cross pollinating the Aqua team to provide repeat clients with a sense of community/family in different destinations) and housekeeping (led by Oscar) was ensuring everything was pristine 24/7. And the team behind them providing support behind the scenes— and creates such a memorable experience. It is also worth mentioning there is a masseuse on board (Danis) which is a welcome service after a long day of adventure. One additional item of note. My experience in terms of the demographics of the crowd was different than noted in the editor’s write up. On both the Aqua Mekong and the Aria Amazon, there at least three (or more) families with children ranging from 8 years old (our son in the Mekong!) to young adults, as well younger (including a honeymooning) couple. All to say that it is certainly a diverse and very friendly group of passengers and also great for families. Looking forward to the next trip!!

We took the 7 night cruise (27 June to 4 July 2025). Overall an EXCEPTIONAL experience. The Aria Amazon, while among the oldest in Aqua's fleet, is well-maintained and an excellent 'base camp" for exploring the Amazon. The rooms are spacious, even for 3 guests (2 adults and a 13 year-old); well-appointed with very comfortable beds. The cuisine is amazing (chef Jose Luis and his team) - the best we have had on over 20 other cruises! The crew, all locals, are friendly and helpful. The guides, also locals, made each excursion a real pleasure - their stories about growing up and living in the Upper Amazon are fascinating and provided a unique context to the experiences. We saw all sorts of wildlife - boas, anacondas, sloths, many monkeys and too many species of birds to list here. We had an opportunity to fish for piranha and other fish; and also encountered local fishermen how showed us the Arapaima they had caught. We visited 3 different villages - with a chance to experience local life first hand; another enlightening experience. All in all, I can HIGHLY RECOMMEND AQUA EXPEDITIONS AND THE ARIA AMAZON as an outstanding way to experience the Peruvian Amazon.

It was the best Cruise that we have ever had. After we landed in Iquitos on November 15 and until departure from the Iquitos airport on November 22 we were surrounded by the friendliest and the most attentive service of the Aria amazing crew. We spent an unforgettable week sailing the Amazon river in 5 STAR accommodations. Our spacious room had a floor to ceiling window. Actually it was more like a glass wall. We took two to three excursions every day to see wildlife, visit Peruvian villages, meet people. We took the boat rides, fished piranha, and learned about honey production, forest and wildlife conservation, protection and restoration. We walked through the jungle and visited small villages. We met local people, honey bee keepers, tree climbers, shaman, craftsmen, fishermen and park rangers. The food on the ship is amazing. Service is above all praises. The crew is awesome. Nature is at its purest.

My cruise was a 4 day on the Aria on the Amazon set sail on 5/13/24. This is an eco-cruise, the ship held 29 passengers. Overall it was outstanding. The crew, the guides, cabins, food, everything was amazing. It was a trip of a lifetime to be so up close to the wild life. Every excursion departed from the boat into smaller boats which went up various tributaries. The cruise company handled everything from arrival at the airport to departure. Yes there will be rain, it is the rain forest, but we didn't miss out on anything. They had rain ponchos, boots for the jungle, bug repellant, it was amazing. The cabins were spacious, full big shower, well air conditioned, service was incredible. The rooms had floor to ceiling windows so even on the lazy days you could lay in bed and watch the river go by. The guides were incredible and very educational. You realize how small we are in the world and the importance of bio-diversity and the vital role this cruise company performs.

The Aria Amazon offers an absolutely fascinating, informative, and downright luxurious trip—to a part of the world I have wanted to see all my life. This was an excellent way to explore the Amazon! The Aria is extremely comfortable, the food is outstanding, and the excursions provide great opportunities to see Amazonian wildlife. I highly recommend it! Tips: pack multiple long-sleeve shirts and long pants, take an excellent camera and binoculars, and use soft-sided luggage. Our cabin was on the second (higher) level, which was very nice. The food on board was exceptional in every way—variety of flavors (often using local spices and herbs), taste, quality, and presentation. The staff were quick to pick up on our personal preferences—I like soft drinks without ice, etc.—and they knew all our names before we even arrived on the boat. The naturalists are very knowledgeable, and they are great at spotting often hard-to-see wildlife. A lifetime trip all around!
