Silver Dawn

Silver Dawn

A new world of luxury is waiting aboard Silver Dawn. Elegant and modern, Silver Dawn is the natural evolution of our fleet. Large enough to offer eight dining options – including the superb Sea and Land Taste (S.A.L.T.) programme – yet small enough for the famed Silversea onboard ambience, Silver Dawn inherits the best features of her sister ships Silver Muse and Silver Moon, but is in a class all of her own. With sumptuous suites, outstanding itineraries, plus cutting-edge design and technology and the outstanding OTIVM wellness concept, Silver Dawn sets new standards of luxury. Wake up to a new dawn with Silversea.

Ship Reviews

For background, we are avid cruisers and do about 7 to 8 cruises a year. We're actually doing our first World Cruise (154 days!) next year, so yeah, we love being on cruise ships. We prefer the luxury lines and Regent is our favorite but Silver Sea is a very close second. We've done Explora Journeys, Seabourn, Oceania and are trying out Crystal and Cunard later this year. This was our third Silver Sea (we did the Dawn in 2023 and the Ray in 2024) and I'd have to say it was amazing. This was the 18 night segment of the World Cruise from Southampton to Stockholm starting April 12, 2025 with several overnight stays. We visited England, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Estonia and Sweden. Loved the itinerary! I'll try to summarize the points: Embarkation/Disembarkation: Both were a breeze and we did not wait at all. In Southampton we boarded around Noon and in Stockholm, since we staying there for a few days, we waited and were the last ones off at 9:30 AM. Service: Some of the best we've experienced. Neil, our butler, and Mark are room steward were very attentive and thorough. All around the ship the crew seemed happy and were always saying hi. After only a few interactions, many knew our names and preferences. Huge shout out to the restaurant manager Dinu who is one of the best in the business and took good care of us. We had met him on the Ray and he remembered us and helped us to get into the Silver Note a few times. Our room - we had Panorama Suite and loved the location. This is one of the first times we've gone without a balcony but with the chillier weather we didn't mind it. Loved having the floor to ceiling glass windows and plenty of room. We didn't hear anything from the connecting room next to us. Dining - we had no issue with any of our meals. All were served hot and cooked the way we like it. I had a different seafood almost every night and it was delicious. The Silver Note is our favorite (wish Regent had that!). We love the food but especially love Esther and Andre doing jazz. We ate there twice but went every night after dinner to listen to them. Also, room service was always delivered on time and hot. We also love the Arts Cafe for quick snacks, light lunch and yummy treats! Speakers - maybe it was because this was the World Cruise but we thought the speakers were very good and all the subjects interesting. Kudos to Mark Lubienski, Jeffrey Weinberg, Dr Glenn E Robinson and Alastair Bruce. All excellent! Salt Lab - I wanted to call this one out separately since I think it's great that Silver Sea offers these cooking classes for free. Not sure any other cruise line does that (Wish Regent did!). We did two and would have done more but we were busy on our excursions. Entertainment - The singers and dancers were very good and the entertainment they brought on was excellent. We went to every show and enjoyed them all. Cruise Director - Moss Hill was very good and entertaining in his own right. He's been doing this a long time and has a great story to tell. He kept the vibe happy. Excursions - For the most part they were very good (see comment below). We did mostly their included ones but did pay for a couple with charges but they were worth it. A couple things for improvement: Not sure who's responsibility it is but we feel that all the excursions where there is a walking component, they should provide the "ear whispers" so you can hear the guide without having to be right next to them. The Dolce Vita lounge, while lovely during the day, feels like a morgue at night since it's so dark and dreary feeling. The theater seating is not ideal. Unless you're in the front row, you're usually staring right into someone's head. The rows need to be more "stadium seating" like with more elevation between ros. Too late I guess to change it now but feel it's a design flaw. Other than those minor things we had a great cruise and would not hesitate to cruise on Silver Sea again. If you'd like to see a day by day write up on our cruise with lots of pictures, (especially of all the great food!) check out my travel blog at: thewanderingitalian.com

Just got off the Silversea Silver Dawn and it was pure luxury from start to finish! What truly elevates the experience on Silversea is the exceptional crew. They don't just provide service; they anticipate your every need and personalize everything, making you feel incredibly special. Our butler, Kunal, was simply outstanding. He consistently surprised and delighted us with his thoughtfulness and impeccable attention to detail. It felt like he knew what we wanted before we even did! And in Atlantide, our server Su made us feel like family every single night. The culinary journey onboard was a highlight. We especially loved the SALT experience, which allowed us to really immerse ourselves in the local cuisines. Don't miss the hand-crafted margaritas from Aldo at the SALT Bar—they're truly the best. Cruise Director Moss kept the atmosphere vibrant and entertaining throughout our voyage. If you're seeking a truly luxurious and personalized cruise experience where every detail is perfected, the Silver Dawn is an absolute must. We're already dreaming of our next Silversea journey!

We sailed on two segments of the world cruise. Lisbon to Southampton, and Southampton to Stockholm. We have become veterans, having acquired over 100 days aboard. We never expected to become smitten with a line. We have sailed on Holland-America, NCL, and RCL (ugh). The overall experience was beyond our expectations. This was my first experience of France, and I was impressed. It was incredibly beautiful sailing up the Garonne, and the are was full of flowers. The subsequent run up the Seine was lovely too. Normandy was covered with flowers and full of gorgeous quaint villages. France made up for the disappointment of Bilbao. We didn’t get beyond the art museum in Bilbao thanks to our guide who warned of pickpockets and general thievery in the most interesting part of the city. The museum was architecturally interesting, but the contents weren’t worth the time. We aren’t modern art aficionados, and it was largely waste on us. The tour was lethargic and tedious until we were finally released from the group. All the other ports were really great. We didn’t have much to do in Southampton, but prowled around and found the remains of Henry V’s departure warehouses. Nobody is interested in that, but they are in reasonable shape and the neighborhood has some nice pubs and cafes. I always enjoy England and think the area has serious potential for tourism if someone spent the time to get it going. Easter holiday pretty much tanked our subsequent stops in Amsterdam and Hamburg. We’re veterans of Amsterdam and headed out to Kukenhoph for the tulip show. What we experienced was an absolute jam of humanity that spoiled the experience. They put so many people in the place that you can’t look at anything without someone stepping in front of you. Don’t get me started about the hordes of Asian tourists all armed with selfie sticks! Hamburg was essentially closed due to the Easter holiday. That was a shame! We marched all over Copenhagen and it’s as delightful as ever. For us, the visits to Finland, Estonia, and Sweden were the highlights of our trip. The people are friendly, and we were hugely impressed with everything. Estonia is a contemporary miracle. The way they gained their freedom, and their efforts in preserving history are amazing. Sweden was another beautifully preserved city that warrants another visit. So the itinerary was amazing. The service on the ship was the usual wonderful experience. The crew is really nice and we found ourselves enjoying them more than some of our fellow passengers! Their efforts and enthusiasm impressed us. The quality of the food and wine was simply superb. I found myself looking forward to lunch as soon as breakfast was over! There was not a single item that didn’t reflect thought and effort in the prep and presentation. The variety of options was enjoyable. One very late afternoon we were on the pool deck drinking wine and eventually the dinner hour was at hand. The bar waiter says “You should have dinner with us. Are there any reservations we need to cancel?” There were not and we had a delightful meal. In all, Silversea has seduced us completely. After the experiences we have had, I can’t imagine sailing with anyone else.o

Our first Silversea cruise was a result of Crystal's bankruptcy (then our preferred line) and our muted response to Regent. So we decided to try Silversea and my husband was hooked. One day on that first Silversea cruise, he turned towards me, eyes moist from crying and said in a shakey voice "Silversea broke me. I can't go back to another line...I, I just can't." He openly wept when we disembarked. I cautioned him that not every cruise will have that first-time magic. We then went on our next Silversea cruise (Nova in Alaska) for his birthday. Just about everything went wrong that could go wrong getting us to Alaska. When Silversea found out, they leapt into action and made this cruise one of the most memorable I'd ever had. Its easy for a cruise line to show you a good time when nothing goes wrong. It's incredible when everything goes wrong and yet you have a blast. Silversea hadn't broken me yet (I still wanted to try the new Crystal), but I was feeling the vapors. We planned this Silversea cruise a few years ago. In those intervening years we'd tried other lines and sailed with Regent again. So we were curious: was the magic still there? The moment we walked aboard Silver Dawn, my husband began singing "it's as if we'd never said good-bye" as he was offered caviar and champagne. It took a day, one single day, for me to realize he was right. So what makes Silversea special? The passengers are all fascinating: federal judges, authors, inventors, actors etc. and yet there is no stuffiness. Everyone is extremely friendly, social and outgoing. The passengers are the best at sea. The crew are extremely intuitive. They know your name before you board. They memorize your drink preferences etc. Its very customized intuitive service. Despite that, the crew are extremely engaging and friendly. Its normal to see crew and passengers hugging. They create a kinship. Crew from prior Silversea cruises remembered us and tidbits about our lives. They also updated us on their lives. Its like a family reunion. The food constantly changes at all the restaurants and so you never tire of eating onboard. Lunch could range from prime rib and lobsters at the buffet, to specialty Cinco de Mayo menu at the pool. Every meal we had was fantastic. I especially like the SALT program which ensures you taste local foods and recipes from wherever you are sailing. In the end, what makes me love Silversea is the authenticity of it all. As we disembarked Jamie started to cry (hell, I'm got a tad emotional the night before) and I said "we've got plenty of exciting things to do when we get home and new adventures ahead. He seemed fine a few minutes later as he was focused on his phone. When I looked down he was on Silversea's website looking to book additional cruises. He mumbled "I just can't go back to another line. Those other lines are not... Silversea.
