Ship Reviews

Incredible ship. Love Central Park for the ambiance, Trellis Bar and Park Cafe. Would not do a Boardwalk Balcony again…too noisy. Lots of entertainment for all throughout the days. Food was good overall. We prefer to purchase the unlimited dining package because we don’t like buffet. We saw too many people not washing their hand in the restroom and entering the buffet, then sticking their dirty hands directly into food and sometimes taste testing, then putting back. Gross! Service was excellent everywhere EXCePT for the dining reservations staff, this system is frustrating for all and staff seemed more irritated to be doing their job. Royals reservation system goes by actual month and date but the royal app goes by day one day, two day, three based on your cruise. This seem to lead to confusion, duplicate bookings, or bookings being cancelled on the wrong day. This was a full cruise so finding chairs on the pool deck was challenging. Lots of chair hoggers that never used them. Speciality restaurants: Mason jar - dinner. Great spot. Interesting and good food. Excellent service. This restaurant seems to be highly underrated. Jonny rockets - lunch. Excellent service. Great milkshakes. Diner type. Giovanni - dinner. Nice atmosphere. Efficient and accommodated quickly when rain started. Wonderful experience. Izumi sushi - lunch and dinner. Excellent. Food fantastic. Service great. Friendly and quick. Highly recommend. Silk - my time dining restaurant. Not great. Located at the Back. Lots of movement. Loud from engines. 150 Central Park - dinner. Service excellent. Food excellent. Nice atmosphere. Accommodated us earlier than booked. Pool “beers fairies”. Amazing! Better than any other cruise line. Samba grill - dinner. Excellent service. Incredible food. Only downfall is you have to do buffet for your salad. Meat all comes to the table. Go here hungry!I would say this restaurant is under estimated. Hybachi - dinner. Great food. Good show. Not as good as I’ve seen on other ships but worth it. Only disappointment was not having vegetables included unless you gave up a protein. Charge $5 more and include vegetables so it doesn’t look cheap. Chops - dinner. Excellent service. Great food. Definite favorite. Park cafe - anytime! Best place for breakfast, coffee and snacks anytime of the day.

We’ve cruised many times, but this was the biggest ship we’ve ever been on. While I was wowed by some parts of its design, other areas not so much. What I loved was the Aqua show and the skating show (although a skating rink on a ship is odd to me). Although we sailed with 6500 passengers, the ship seldom felt overcrowded, other than at sea days looking for an open chair. We found the food to be good. Long gone are the gourmet meals in the MDR, but our experience was pleasant. The crew were polite and efficient. The drinks were well crafted, not crazy strong, but who can blame them since most people have the package and drink all day. New Years Eve there was a spectacular ballon drop, however there was not much else to do specifically for NYE. In general, we felt the party vibe LOW on this sailing. Maybe it was just a conservative crowd or RCCL is beginning to feel like Celebrity. Our balcony was pretty ordinary and showing signs of wear, although the main areas of ship look great. deck 12 was a great location, as was the balcony. We particularly enjoyed Central Park. What a gorgeous deck with green everywhere! Loved every inch of it. Very upscale. The Park Cafe was a favorite for light bites, as was the Solarium buffet at breakfast and lunch. The Pesky Parrot was a miss for me, it seems out of place and drinks were kind of weird. Getting on and off was a breeze as well. Overall, I can’t say too much negetive, but was I wowed enough to pay for a big ship next time…not sure.

I had not been pleased with a previous cruise on Royal Caribbean (RCI)in 2023. This cruise changed my opinion. Service was excellent and food was above average in all locations. The Hibachi grill was a fun dining experience. Entertainment was above average and the production of Mama Mia was excellent. Staterooms were comfortable and quiet. Approximately 5500 passengers of all ages so outside of the staterooms it could get congested and noisy. One very useful item was a data board at each elevator station. This had a map of the ship, time, temperature, weather along with other information. Great idea! We were a family of ten and RCI was able to seat us as a family for every dinner. I never expected it happen every night. My thanks to the waiter Komang and his assistant Ananda of table #18 in the main dining room. They worked diligently to provide outstanding service to us and make sure we were seated as a family. Some areas I didn't like. Storage in the staterooms is limited. There is a 3 drawer desk but the top drawer has the hair dryer so it is useless. There are multiple cubicles in the closet and others adjacent to the balcony glass. However these are so small to be useless for anything other than medications and like small containers. There are a couple of magazine valances that are not very useful. Bathroom and shower are small. Again cubicles are available but other than meds, toothbrushes, razors, etc they are not useful. The counter surrounding the "small" sink is not big enough to accommodate a men's Dopp travel kit. Plenty of outlets for electrical. In the Windjammer Cafe, we were typically provided water and coffee very quickly but the wait staff did not offer refills unless you "flagged" them down and requested refills. The one exception was Amanda who routinely provide us with refills. However we were not able to sit in her area every time. Boarding the Allure was fairly easy and everything went smoothly until we stepped off the gangway onto the ship. A gentlemen in a reflective vest asked me if I knew what my muster station was? I replied it was 4 "something". He responded they has a lot of "4's". After a series of questions and answers he insisted we go to the muster station before we went to our rooms or any other location. We had just had a 45 minute shuttle ride, stand in line to check in after traveling for about 24 hours at that time and this gentleman is giving me a "pop" quiz with directions to my muster station. I told him he was not starting this trip as a fun filled vacation. Of course I ignored him after we headed in the direction he indicated and went to our room. We did go to the muster station later in the afternoon. Unfortunately I didn't get his name. Leaving the ship was a disaster. It started very organized with everyone having a luggage tag number and leaving when the number was called. (there were 25-40 people for example with the number 25). As time progressed RCI announced that all bags had been off loaded and everyone could leave. So now instead of groups of 25-50 searching for bags you had 150 people departing the ship and searching for luggage. Bottom line is RCI redeemed themselves on this cruise. Grandkids has a great time and I enjoyedg this beautiful, large ship.
