Vision of the Seas is a classic Royal Caribbean experience. She is perfectly sized to feel at home from the moment you board. Gone are the days of walking in to the Centrum and getting hit with a musty smell of wet carpet or the like. I was immediately pleased to discover that public spaces and stateroom were impeccably maintained. OK, yes, you run the gauntlet of boarding day 'opportunities' to buy beverage and dining packages but most of us know the nest deals came to our inbox before embarkation day. I went to my room and found the typical setup for an interior stateroom. I proceeded to explore the ship as it had been yearssince I cruised on a Vision-class ship. Pool deck pool bar was just starting to get busy so I took the opportunity to meet the servers and have a cold one. Meeting Bruno, Li and Olyksander set the tone for my voyage - any time I passed the pool deck I was greeted with an offer of a cold replacement can of my go-to beer. They even quickly remembered my stateroom to just charge to my deluxe beverage package without presenting my SeaPass every time. As the afternoon wore on and departure time approached I checked out the solarium for some quiet relaxation on mid-afternoon. The Solarium is quiet, soothing and climate-controlled so while this was a warm day in Baltimore out on the open decks it was perfect in the Spoolarium - I found this to be the case all week even as we cruised into Maritime Canada with cooler outdoor temps the Solarium was almost always the ideal temperature. Fast forward to first night dinner - it was surprisingly good in the main dining room...I was seated at a large table with only two other guests, both of whom were grouchy and displeased with everything it seemed. I honestly had one of the better fish dishes I've ever had and service from Akhish and Jelo was top-notch. I did not catch a lot of the onboard entertainment this cruise but did watch most of the set by the headliner comedian who I found funny and not offensive as some can be. A highlight of the week was the dinner on day two - Chef's Table. A five-vourse wine paired dinner served by the most professional server I've ever encountered onboard with commentary at each course from an Executive Sous Chef. I was surprised at how much in enjoyed this somewhat port-intensive cruise to the extreme northeast. I usually cruise Caribbean so this was a refreshing change - literally refreshing as we were getting the first touch of fall once in Boston. I mostly did self-guiding tours with some transportation like kop on/hop off bus so I cannot comment on quality or variety of guides or certain ship-offered tours. Weall live on our stomachs when cruising so I cannot overlook the Windjammer alternative for breakfast and lunch. I encourage everyone to try breakfast in the dining room at least once - it is a whole other experience and as much variety as anyone should need. But, the Windjammer is so plentiful and even eggs prepared to order i made it my start every day after self-serve coffee on Deck 9 to get a sense of the weather ahead for the day. I will close by saying that disembarkation was smooth and efficient, baggage was reasonably well-organized in the terminal after group number was called...then straight to my car 200 yards away. I will conclude by saying I loved the ship, the staff and the itinerary so much I booked it again for next year (only with a twist in that Portland, ME replaces a sea day) and there is an overnight in St John.

Voyagers (ages 9-12 years) will explore a range of activities that puts the "cool" back into learning.
