Lovely ship and we booked a conservatory mini suite on deck 9. Do NOT book one on deck 8 as everybody walks past and looks in your balcony and rooms. Food great and only real gripe is that you have to book Headliners theatre via app. Always shown as fully booked but never was in practice. Passengers mostly ignored the MDR booking app and turned up in mostly couples regardless. When will P&O learn it is not popular with their loyal customers ? Entertainment was good apart from 6 in a quiz team rule. Most think it should be 4 and I have complained about this before. Excursions were great and we had booked in advance for each day. Destinations Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Hamburg and Bruges. English spoken everywhere. We had priority booking for the first time and that was quite fast. Great cruise all in and was a repeat of 2022 identical cruise. No big names on board and never saw any officers around the ship. Loved walking the promenade deck especially when windy.
Had a great 2-day cruise from Southampton, modern and comfortable ship, the fellow passengers and crew made it most fun post covid cruise I have been on , I did find the ship very hot so changed out of my formal wear asap the entertainment was great during the evening, good food venue options and quality of food good but minimal menu options , modern and comfortable ship, however not enough crew to provide and excellent service in dining and bars especially trying to get a drink , expect long delay 30 minutes plus in busy venues . You CANNOT just go to bar and get a drink -BONKERS! , cabin was good and no queues lifts etc. I did not have an issue finding my way around the ship, although 5,200 passengers the venues are spread across the ship so never felt crowded. Beware on Formal nights some venues enforce jacket and tie
This was our second time on Iona ans as it was our golden anniversary we would be in Lanzarote but all that changed when we boarded. Itinerary was changed due to berth problems, music festivals so Gran Canaria was changed to Fuertaventura which we went to in March and swore never again. Entertainment during the day was aimed at selling, spa talks, duty free tastings etc. There was a speaker, Brian Gee a CSI man and he filled Headliners to standing room only as the only decent daytime entertainment. At night we only went to one headliners act which was mediocre. Mary Mac and Sam Bailey in Limelight and along with the food were well worth the money . If you haven't seen the Greatest Days or Digital shows then you had every opportunity as they were headline entertainment nearly every day! We did Chefs table twice and booked Opal and Olive Grove a few times. Buffet was not worth the effort. Food mediocre and queues of rude passengers. Quays was better and staff were pleasant and helpful. Cabin was fine and cabin staff nice and chatty and helpful. Films on tv a good addition as hubby was ill for 3 days so gave us both something to do. Some staff rude, unhelpful but others much better and always friendly. Some retaurant staff run off their feet, others looked bored to death. So, for goodness sake sort out entertainment, we sailed with Iona in March and it was much better. Sort out disembarkation, although there are allocated slots it seemed the whole ship got off together at 9am and it was a shambles. We missed our last stop due to storm Amy, having sailed through many storms over the years, it didn't matter. We are on Iona again next March, if it doesn't improve we may jump ship to another company.
This was my first cruise, and my last holiday having been a bit of a disaster I went with my dad. We were both very happy with the service on the ship. Some of the waiters really seemed passionate about their jobs, and couldn't do enough for us. The sail into and out of Olden made the cruise for me. I went with the main aim of seeing the fjords and they certainly delivered on that front. We didn't do any of the P and O excursions, but the announcements always told us what we needed to know to do our own thing. There was so much to do, I almost want to do another trip just to try more things! Our cabin was Starboard with a window that was good for people watching when we docked starboard side on. We watched the Olden sailaway from the deck though as we wanted to hear it to. Good size, not that we spent much time there. Embarking I didn't like the queue, but it moved reasonably well. We used CPS for parking very impressed with that setup Ate in the Keel and Cow twice for dinner, the steak was amazing! My only complaint would be sometimes Vistas the coffee bar was a bit slow and often people would turn up and get service straight away even though you'd been waiting ages.
