Nieuw Statendam

Nieuw Statendam

Fluid lines and dramatic spaces make the Holland America Nieuw Statendam a modern beauty. The second in the line of Pinnacle-class cruise ships, its design draws inspiration from the elegant curves of musical instruments. When not relaxing in well-appointed suites or staterooms, guests will have a multitude of innovative dining and entertainment options—from Rudi’s Sel de Mer to Nami Sushi to the Rolling Stone Rock Room, B.B. King’s Blues Club, and the visually stunning two-level World Stage.

Best Cruise Ship Awards

Nieuw Statendam’s inspired design and entertainment options earned it Best New Cruise Ship and Best Mid-Size Cruise Ship awards, among other accolades. Passengers and cruise critics love this sublime ship.

Ship Reviews

Overall, a very good transatlantic from FLL to Rotterdam. Easy on, easy off. Food in MDR excellent; lots of variety and they did not chintz on selections. Service was super. Lunch and breakfast buffets very good, too. Meals and snacks at the various venues were also very good. Second time for us on this ship, and it’s maintained very well. Balcony cabin had plenty of room, and two cabin stewards were great. Entertainment was generally very good, especially BB King band and individual acts in the theatre. The production shows were poor, though, as they were on our previous sailing. Guest Relations desk not the best, with a couple of rude, uncaring young women. The only BIG downer on the cruise was the horrible drink service in the Ocean Bar, where everyone congregates before dinner—brutally slow and inefficient (expect about half hour to get a drink). Really no excuse. As for specialty dining, we enjoyed the Asian Tamarind very much, but the Pinnacle steak and chop restaurant is nothing special (had better lamb chops in the MDR). The excursions we took were very good (Portland and Falmouth, England). For exercise, nice that the ship has a 360 promenade deck. Overall, the service and friendly staff were exceptional and we’d do this ship again .

Ship was awesome and great service. Grateful for on board med clinic (daughter got pink eye) - they didn’t have a med clinic when we last sailed in the ship 3 years ago . Just one negative - felt very ripped off on one shore excursion - Isle of Man Steam railroad and Castletown. Price of excursion over $200 per person - all it included was a 40 min bus ride to Castletown - getting dropped off for about 90 min to be on our own (admission to castle not included - cost another $17 per person). The. Taken to railway stations for ride back to port. Couldn’t see much due to hedges along track. If we just did the train on our own it was like $14 per person round trip. Not much to do in Castletown except castle. We spent the morning on our own by port and saw museum for free - that was fun and is all you really need at this island.

Was very impressed with the ship.Spotlessly clean . Had a verandah on deck 11 . Quiet and close to stairs. The food was excellent as was the service. I liked the fact that you were served in the buffet and you were also offered drinks in there. I really enjoyed the Pinnacle grill speciality restaurant Unfortunately on the first day we left Rotterdam 4 hours late ! The ship was full and sometimes was difficult to find seats at busy times. I would say the evening entertainment was quite basic . There was a comedian , singers and musicians but not really shows. The stateroom attendants were efficient and quick . There were various activities on offer during the sea days . The library was large and plenty of games in the crows nest on deck 12 . Disembarking to go ashore was fast and well organised from decks 2 and 3. We have booked again for next year . The shop on board was not well stocked which was surprising

Kids & Teens

Holland America Line's youth activities program, Kids Club, offers an array of entertaining events for kids and teens ages 3-17, supervised by a full-time, professionally trained staff. They'll have an opportunity to join other kids their age for arts and crafts, sports, video game competitions, scavenger hunts, challenging team games and themed parties.

Note: Kids Club is not offered on cruises of 25-days or longer, including all Legendary and Grand Voyages. We will offer a selection of children’s activities throughout these longer voyages for any children who may be onboard.

Safety Comes First

Safety is our primary concern and strict policies are in place for effective supervision. Adult guests are not permitted to remain in Kids Club unless attending to a special-needs child.

Please note: During voyages with a high number of families onboard, we will make all efforts to accommodate interested parties. However, participation in our program cannot be guaranteed. Hours of operation may change to better serve our guests.
