AmaVerde

One of AmaWaterways’ remarkable twin-balcony river ships, the newly reimagined AmaVerde, is full of light, love and bold artwork showcasing vibrant, modern designs. The dashing ship is considered the captivating companion of the AmaBella as both ships were totally redesigned in 2021 and sail their imagined love story on the romantic Danube River. Spacious, sophisticated staterooms set the mind at ease for a restful slumber, while warmth attracts visitors to the comfortable fireside library and AmaVerde’s massage and hair salon. The Main Restaurant is the perfect home to exquisite meals and local wine pairings worthy of La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs — the internationally renowned gastronomic society. The Chef’s Table specialty restaurant, with its glass-enclosed kitchen and unique rolled lighting fixture, gives way to a vibrant multi-course parade of dishes with distinct regional flavors paired with hand selected wines. Enjoy a light lunch in our new “Café Bistro,” a perfect al fresco spot to play cards and mingle with your fellow guests. Additional amenities on AmaVerde include unlimited high-quality complimentary Wi-Fi, movies, music and English-language TV stations in the staterooms, a specialty coffee station, gift shop, sun-deck walking track, heated swimming pool, putting green, fitness room and fleet of bikes.

Ship Reviews

Overall very good expérience. Room on second floor was larger than usual bigger ships and was modernly designed. Cruise itself went very smoothly and included excursion were well prepared and chosen. Local guides selected were excellent. Food was good but not to the level of other cruise ships such as Azamara or Regent Seven seas that we had experience before. As we had many hours on water cruising in this part of the Danube - longest portions without stops, we experienced lack of entertainment on this type of boat. Good if you are a book reader or ok to play some games but otherwise there is lots of period without visiting anything. One suggestion would have been to invite a guest speaker that would entertain the passengers on regional particularities, politics, history, etc. Chef’s table offers the opportunity for a 7 course dinner (one time opportunity as it contains about 26 seats). Overall good experience although would be more interested in 600-800 passenger boat in the future.

We've just finished what has been a fantastic 14 days cruise on the Danube. We also enjoyed our three days pre-cruise in Prague and four days post-cruise in Romania. We loved everything about our cruise but most importantly the outstanding service provided by all the staff: the ship crew, the reception staff, the restaurant and bar service, the room cleaning staff, the laundry staff, the entertainer and the wellness host. Our two cruise managers were also very friendly, available and helpful throughout the entire trip. The food was incredible from start to finish. The personnel at AmaWaterways was also very helpful setting up our vacation so that we could enjoy our time without any worries. Our only regret is that we chose too many excursions leaving us little time to enjoy the ship. Although the excursions made us discover beautiful places and learn much about the culture of the countries we visited. We recommend wholeheartedly this cruise and AmaWaterways.

The two weeks were night and day. The first 7 days were fun filled and the guests were a great group. The second 7 days were far less enjoyable. The guests stompeded the dining room at 7 pm as if the boat was going to run out of food. Despite the fact that there are no "reservations" groups reserved tables in prime locations. They did things like remove all the chess pieces from the board while a game was in progress by other guests. They signed up for regular pace tours and complained that it was too difficult for them. Several commented on it. There were not a lot of options for excursions on some days and some of the ports were unnecessary. We should have skipped Bratislava and spent two nights in Vienna. Linz was a hidden treasure and everyone complained that the description did not do it justice. As a result, many chose other excursions and were sorry. Some of the tours were very superficial and we found that through our advance research, we knew a lot more about the area than what was being offered by the guide. The staff were wonderful although the Maitre d during the first week felt it necessary to scold his staff in public. We were glad to see him go. Seeing the Iron Gates was magnificent and we loved that experience. Having the experience of witnessing the impact of political decisions on the lives of people was so important. For example seeing the electrified barbed wire surrounding the Russian embassy in Bucharest after visiting the Parliament and seeing the aftermath of a deranged dictator underscored the importance of our freedoms. Hearing the stories of our cruise director and guides about their lives during communism and revolution was important. We wish they could shout it out to the rest of the world now. People have short memories.

This was our first cruise. We were very impressed by the level of care given by all of the staff on the ship. We enjoyed the food, amenities, entertainment, and tours. All of our tour guides were great and we were able to participate in active tours ( hiking and biking) which is what we were hoping for. We very much enjoyed getting to see cities by hiking up to the castles and all around the old towns at a brisk pace. The bike trips were fun as well. Highlights included climbing through medieval fortresses in tiny steep staircases and seeing amazing views. The serving staff in the dining room was great with such friendly demeanors that they felt like friends by the end of the trip. Housekeeping went above and beyond. We also really loved the pre and post cruise extensions in Prague and România. Since we were on the ship for two weeks, we had two different cruise directors, both of whom did a great job, were very organized and personable. A wonderful travel experience! Thank you AMA Verde crew!
