This was our second cruise with AMA. We met wonderful people and had a terrific cruise director, Andrea. My priority is an educational experience and we truly had that. The guides were wonderful and that was most important to me. There were some dining glitches (slow service, some selections were not as good) but overall, our time spent on the boat and on land was terrific. Everything went according to schedule and and the cruise manager amazing managed it all. The boat is relatively quiet so if you are looking for “Las Vegas” you won’t find it. Instead, the evening entertainment was low key but with a great DJ. Many women got up and danced and it was lots of fun. We plan to travel again with AMAwaterways. We also appreciated the pre-cruise offer that included two nights’ stay in Paris and day tours. The day tours were not so great but it was fine. We had booked our own.
This is without a doubt the best way to visit Paris and the province of Normandy! The crew of the AmaLyra was outstanding! 7 days and nights of pampering and friendly service. The cruise director was the absolute best, the musical entertainment nightly was exceptional and the dining staff was marvelous. Great food and wine, comfortable accommodations, and an itinerary that was very enjoyable. Thank you for fulfilling a life long dream of visiting France and the beaches of Normandy. Very nice meals throughout the cruise with the highlight being the Chef's table dinner. The tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and quite entertaining. The coaches to and from the excursions were very new and comfortable. Be careful with your expectations at Monet's Garden in Giverny. This excursion may be extremely crowded with guests, so it will not be an intimate experience. Otherwise, all excursions were wonderful. Highly recommend AmaWaterways for your next river cruise.
The cruise was so close to perfect! The boat immaculate. The crew an entertaining mixed bag of personalities. It was our first river cruise and we are now big fans. Ama does a bang up job. They wined and dined us 3x a day with exceptional food and solid service! The tours were in general wonderful. This is a fantastic company! The views were unreal. The tours remarkable and forever etched in our memories. The wine was lovely too. The cabin, although a bit tight, was clean and once you get used to the boat sized room-it is all good! The bed was comfy and the room was very clean. No rocking in the boat this time of year,. The entertainment was stellar-Mike made the trip extra with his extraordinary talents! Highly recommend this company!!!! Go, you won't regret it-these trips create a calm sense of traveling and safety and a variety of tours!
Often, too much of a vacation is worrying about where to eat, what to see, how to get from place to place. AMA Waterways has you covered. From the airport to our hotel, from our hotel to the ship, etc, all of our transfers were part of the package and went off without a hitch. We loved the excursion choices, and my husband especially enjoyed the bicycle tours. The guides used for the excursions were friendly and knowledgeable. The staff is friendly and outgoing, and willing to go out of their way to meet your needs. Our cruise manager was absolutely wonderful and helped us change our excursion choices at the last minute. We found this type of cruise so much more enjoyable than any of the large ocean cruises we have been on. You have the chance to get to know your fellow cruisers and make new friends. This was our first river cruise but will not be the last on AMA Waterways.
This was the best of the best! This fantastic crew, great activitie&tours, and kindness of this cruise line, starting with Dragon who saw to it that everything was perfect. I was very ill and he personally helped me get the medical care I needed. He did this even though just doing his normal duties, must be totally time consuming. There was never a hint it was problematic, giving him a 10 out of a 5 star rating. The food and people who serve it are par excellence. Our cabin crew was so helpful&kind, attentive but not smothering. I had two massages&hair services which met my high standards. What was amazing was that the price for these was, seriously, about 1/3 what I have been charged by other cruise lines. The entertainment was such fun, particularly the Popcorn Sisters’s take on The Andrews Sisters. This entire cruise was the absolute best.
